If you are experiencing multiple reboots on your Android phone the problem might be coming from the Antivirus app. 

Just shortly after midnight on New Year Eve I started experiencing rebooting on my Droid every few minutes.  I started to wonder if it had something to do with the New Year.  I went to bed and woke up to a dead phone.  I was hanging out a friends and had my charger in the car.  I headed home with the phone on the charger.  The same thing was happening so I was eager to get home and get online.

I found out that others were having the same problem after installing the upgrade for Antivirus.  There is another upgrade available as of today but at this point I’m not willing to get it a try.  I took the application off my phone and the problem was gone.

It’s not a bad app but after last night I’m not willing to deal with random reboots of my phone.  I might change my mind later and try it again.  But for now I’m going to trust that Android can defend itself from a virus better than Windows can.

I took a look at aTrackDog early today and was shocked to find this application ranked at #72.  Then I did some research that and found out that one really doesn’t need virus protection on an Android phone.  I’m not so sure about that and feel that any device connected to the internet has its risk.  Besides this is a free application.  I installed it on my Motorola DROID and run it weekly.  So far it hasn’t found anything harmful on my android phone.

The settings are easy to use and the scan goes fairly quick and below is an example of the output.

My advice would be to download this antivirus app and check it out.  It’s a free android app and might just protect your investment down the road.
